Training people at risk of social isolation to become more independent:

Inspire 50plus seeks to increase the knowledge of travel options that are available to Hackney residents that are in their fifties or above. The idea behind the project is that an increasingly confident and independent attitude towards public transport in the over 50s will break down barriers to participation, meaning participants will be less isolated.

The information that the service provides works through available options, eligibility and how to apply for and access a variety of transport access schemes. Many of these schemes hold a great deal of potential for improving lives, however, they go quite underused due to inadequate awareness.

Schemes that our advisors can help with:

  • Freedom passes
  • Dial a Ride
  • Taxicard
  • 812 community bus route
  • Ride side by side
  • Hackney walking tours

If any of this information sounds like it could benefit you or somebody you know then Inspire 50plus is easy to find. Inspire 50plus will holding helpdesks in many of Hackney's librarys on a regular basis. Inspire 50plus is also reaching out to various centres to deliver presentations. Drop in sessions are also possible on an arranged basis - if you are a group or even an individual then please get in touch to arrange a presentation or drop-in.
