Minibuses for Newham community groups
Community groups in the London Borough of Newham can now access our Group Transport scheme - a low cost alternative to minibus hire. Group Transport is a not-for-profit scheme to keep voluntary organisations, sports clubs, community or faith groups, schools and charities on the move.
Our range of 16-seat standard and 14-seat fully wheelchair accessible minibuses can be booked with or without a driver for as little as a few hours or for as long as a few weeks and they can be used to travel anywhere within the UK.

New to Group Transport? How it works
Group Transport is like a club for not-for-profit organisations, societies, groups and clubs who join the scheme and use the minibuses. Under the terms of our license, the service can’t be used in relation to any profitable activity or as individual transport. Other than that, it works in a similar way to regular minibus hire - but at a lower cost as the service doesn't aim to make a profit from its members.

Easy to join
It’s really easy to join. You just need to complete a simple form, pay a small membership fee (if applicable) and leave a small refundable deposit. You can join online here or call 020 7275 2414. If you join online, we’ll add your deposit and membership fee to your first booking.
Booking a minibus
Once you have signed up to the scheme, we’ve made booking a minibus as simple as possible. Either contact us by phone (020 7275 2414), fax (020 7275 2450) , email (grouptransport@hctgroup.org) or using the online form here to let us know: -
- The details of your trip
- The type and size of vehicle you require
- Whether you need a driver and/or passenger assistant
Our friendly staff will be able to confirm whether there is a vehicle available when you need it and provide a detailed estimate of the total cost.

Drive it yourself?
For maximum flexibility and lowest cost to your group, we strongly promote the use of our vehicles with drivers nominated by you.
To meet the eligibility criteria, drivers should have held a full driving licence for over two years, be aged between 21 and 70 and should provide us with details of any penalty points, convictions and any relevant medical conditions.
All drivers wishing to use our vehicles must also hold a valid Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS) certificate. Don’t worry if you don’t have one as Group Transport members from Newham can now access the MiDAS training offered by Islington Community Transport.
